North Wessex Downs AONB
Full CMS with bespoke modules: Interactive Map, Publications and Grants application system.
The North Wessex Downs AONB website is a fully responsive site (usable by those on PCs, and optimised for tablets and smartphones).
Part of the development of the site included the creation of 'Portal' pages such as the Homepage, and the Visitor Information page. These portal pages are fully editable by AONB staff, and it is easy for them to create new ones if necessary.
Another feature is the ability to have latest news, events, and popular publications in the right hand sidebar (optional).
The site features 3 bespoke modules which have been developed specisically for the website:
- Interactive Map. Simple, yet very informative, the interactive map allows you to switch on and off layers of interest. It utilised background mapping from Ordnance Survey - the most accurate and user-friendly mapping around. All of the information is controlled via the CMS including the ability to download GPX files for the walking, riding and cycling routes.
- Publications. The publications module allows the easy adding of publications to categories, which can then be inserted anywhere on the site. This reduces a huge amount of effort for AONB staff.
- Grants (SDF) module. This module runs online from Expression of Interest (EOI) through to approval of the grant. Reviewers are able to log in, and comment on the grant application prior to approval. The applicant is automatically emailled progress of the application. The on-line system has been carefully designed to run from EOI to approval in a streamlined fashion using as little resource from the team as possible. The current system ensures that all information supplied by the applicant is readily available online to the SDF panel, thus providing an efficient way of sharing grant applications with the reviewers and ensuring a timely process for grant applications.
